I was supposed to start the day with a tour of the parliament buildings today but it was cancelled due to the Queen’s passing. Instead I had a slow start to the day, had a cup of tea and tried to get a few logistical things sorted out before heading down to the london eye.

It was very busy in that area, lots of people there to go on the observation wheel, but I didn’t have to wait too long in line. Takes about 30 minutes to go around and there is a great view of the river and the parliament so at least I could see it from the outside!

After my trip up in the air it was time for a cruise down the river. The boat launches from just below where the wheel is and takes you up and down the river for about 40 mins. The tour guide gave us some info about the surrounding monuments while we went under the various bridges etc. I think the cruise was my favourite part, it was a really cool way to see that part of the city. There was even a wedding happening on another boat we passed!

After my cruise I wandered up and down the river banks a bit as there’s lots going on. There were street performers and food trucks and restaurants and a carousel on the one side and a nice garden path on the other. I think I’m starting to get the hang of the underground system (knock on wood) and when to cross the street. I might just have this figured out by the time I leave.
