London Day 3 (September 11th, 2022)

Started the day off in Kensington where I had heard about a tea room that was supposed to be quite good. The place was called Candella’s and it was indeed very tasty. I had the traditional afternoon tea for which I chose a lavender early grey that was so good I wanted to buy some to bring home but they didn’t sell it. I got a scone with cream and jam, a bunch of little sandwiches and some yummy desserts. I also ordered some prosecco just for fun. It was all very tasty but there was so much food I couldn’t finish it all.

After my tea I had some time to kill before my next activity so I took a stroll through the kensington gardens which were close by. It was a nice sunny day today so lots of people were out and about playing sports and walking their dogs and things like that. Next I made my way to the tower of London. It just so happens that the superbloom event was happening so I got to check it out. Basically the moat around the tower of London was drained and grassed over a long time ago but recently they’ve started planing millions of seeds in it so that they have a huge garden filling the moat in the spring and summer. I think I was catching the tail end of it and it was still full of flowers so I can only imagine what it’s like in full force.

Inside the tower walls was very cool to explore as well. I got one of those audio guides and it told me all about the people who lived there and what life was like and about the yeoman warders that still live there. I saw the crown jewels and the armory and the cellar as well as the towers and prisons. There was quite a lot to see but I think I got to most of it.

Since I was right next to it, I went over to the tower bridge and went up to the walkways above (which I didn’t even know you could do). It was A LOT of stairs but it was fun to walk across the glass floors at the top and see the engine room underneath. Busy day today, definitely got my steps in. Only one more full day in London left already!

    • My feet have been totally happy! I think the combo of amazing shoes (thanks babba!) And the pre traveling I did in eastern Canada have made the transition much easier!
