Started the day off right, with chocolate! Our first adventure of the day was a chocolate making workshop. We’ll actually more of a chocolate pouring and decorating work shop, but still. In the class we made tablets and lollies and chocolate shapes. I made a mickey mouse lolly, a Pikachu lolly, a chocolate Christmas tree, and a chocolate flower.

The class was very fun, if a little messy. After our delicacies were complete we did a walk through the chocolate museum that the workshop was held in. It talked us through chocolate in the various times and places in history that we know about, and the different ways it was prepared. Apparently when chocolate came to Europe and was a rarity, there were such specialty items as travel hot chocolate sets and cups made so that your mustache wouldn’t get wet when you drank it!

At the end of the museum, there was a praline demonstration that we got to watch, and our tour was capped off with a very tasty chocolate hazelnut praline sample, made that day!
After our sugar filled morning, we spent the afternoon at Parc Cinquantenair. It’s a very large park with 3 museums, several sports fields/courts, lots of green space for sitting or walking or playing with your dog, and a couple of interesting historical installations. We did a tour around, but the museums were closed by that time, so we had to settle for a pleasant walk in the outside.

After our walk in the park, we got some frites in a cone, a Belgian classic, and did a bit of shopping before heading back to the hostel for the night. It was another busy day in Belgium, and we only have one more before we are off to our next destination.

No one likes a wet mustache! (Trust me.) Glad to see you bopping around – looks like a great time! Hope you are feeling better and the weather is holding for you!
