Today we started our day at a park called Little Europe. Appropriately named, the park has smaller replicas of cities, landmarks, etc., from all over Europe. Think if you were at a Europe themed mini-putt, and then take out the golf. Each new country section would play that places national anthem and many of the replicas had interactive components, boats would move, fountains with running water, even a piece of ground that rumbles and smoke for a volcano.

After our tour around Europe (within our Europe tour), we went to Atomium. Atomium is a very large model of an iron crystal (165 billion times actual size) that is used as a sort of observation tower for the surrounding park.

First you go to the very top which has the viewing deck and a restaurant, then a series of escalators that take you through the first 2 floors housing information about the Atomium, when it was built, what it was for, etc. Finally you go to the last 2 floors which are all lights and music. Kind of a weird combination of experiences, but worth a visit.

After the Atomium, we took a tour around the park on some electric scooters. Small electric scooters are very popular here as a means of short distance transportation, so we rented a few a zipped around the park on them.
The last stop in this area was the Design museum. Kind of an odd combination of exhibits. They had one on Belgian design which was pretty small, a rather large exhibit on plastic, which had a large collection of plastic furniture from the last 60 years or so, and finally an exhibit on the gay rights movement in Belgium. The exhibits were interesting to walk through, but kind of an odd choice to put them together that way.

After we were done at the park, we came back to the area our hostel was in and returned to Grand Place. Being that it was dark out, the whole area was light up, and they seemed to be doing a tech setup for the concert that is happening there tomorrow, so it was all lit up purplish-blue. Having not yet had one, I ended the evening with a waffle, and it was a very sweet end to our time here.
