October 6th – Prague Day 2

We started today off with a trip to the Kampa museum. It’s not a huge museum, but it had some pretty cool pieces with interesting textures as well as a fashion exhibit that’s just on right now.

Our next stop was meant to be Vojanovy sady, which is a nice garden for a walk about, but on the way there we walked across the Charles Bridge (and back) and went to the narrowest alley in Prague (pedestrian light required).

Finally we got to the gardens, and in them we found both fun little houses for bees, and some peacocks.

Our last stop of the day was Lobkowicz Palace. This palace displays the possessions of the Lobkowicz family that were lost and then reclaimed twice. It includes many portraits, lots of dinnerware, hunting rifles and armor, and musical instruments. It also had a bird room that was full of restored watercolours of birds that had real bird feathers on them, and a dog room, that was full of portraits of the family’s dogs (apparently the family was and is a big fan of dogs). We also had an audioguide that filled us in on which cousins got married to each other and how they are still in the process of trying to find all the stuff that got taken, first by the Nazis, and then again by the communists.

Fridays are free pancake night at the hostel we are staying at, so we got some Pancakes for dinner to finish off the day. Just one more full day in Prague!
