Today was a more laid back kind of day. Went over the la place de Concorde and tried desperately not to get trapped in the many round abouts there (I can’t imagine trying to drive in them).

Then I walked up Champs Elysees towards the Arc de triomphe. On the way I stopped in at Laudree because I had heard they do a good French hot chocolate, and they had loads of different kinds of macarons so I picked up some of those for later (a lemon, a raspberry, a chocolate, and a caramel). The hot chocolate was intense. It was so thick I almost felt the need to chew (even though it was definitely not necessary) and super rich and sweet. It was really tasty but I feel as though one cup would be good for 2 people at least and there was no hope of my finishing mine. Then I carried on to the Arc and realised that if you could find the stairs that lead you to an underground tunnel, you could go up it. So I did.

There were yet again, a number of stairs, so it was a bit of a workout getting to the top but the view really was worth the effort.

I carried back down the avenue after that on the other side of the street. There are lots of fancy big name brands like Gucci and Doir but I passed those ones and went in to the Disney store I had seen earlier. There was a lot of fun stuff but unfortunately my eyes were bigger than my suitcase so I had to reign it in. After my shopping and seeing of monuments I went back to the hostel. This was meant to be a kind of rest day so I just relaxed for the evening. Just one more day in Paris to go!

I am loving participating in your adventures. I could just taste the hot chocolate. Oddly I am just reading a novel set in Paris around a chocolate shop and the way they make the chocolate. The pictures are wonderful, what a view from the Arc. Amazing they get that many trees to grow in all that concrete. Beautiful city, enjoy!
