October 10th – Lucerne Day 1

Today we spent the day doing the Mt Pilatus Golden tour. First we got on a boat, that took us for a 1.5 cruise on lake Lucerne to the base of the mountain. I even saw a couple of foxes on one of the shores from the boat!

When we got to the mountain, our next mode of transportation was the cog railway train (the steepest in the world!). The train took us up to the top of the mountain, where there is a hotel as well as several viewpoints. You can hike up and down the mountain, but we didn’t think we wanted to spend the 6 hours one way in the shoes we had brought. We checked out the beautiful views, and even walked a path that goes part of the way into the mountain.

To get back down the mountain, we took a cable car. About halfway down, we stopped at the “adventure park” where they have a big slide, a glider, and a high ropes course. We did the slide (which takes over 3 minutes and you get a little sled) and the glider, before getting on a second, smaller, cable car to go the rest of the way down the mountain.

After our busy day at the mountain, we got dinner at a super yummy sushi restaurant. I had something called a blueberry magic lemonade (the magic is that it was fizzy 🤣) some shrimp gyoza, a sushi board, and a strawberry cheesecake mochi for dessert. Everything was so good, I wanted to go back in time and eat it all again.

And then we called it a night. We were still a little tired from the night train, and needed a little rest and reset time. Tomorrow we have no plans, so we’ll see what the day has in store for us!
